earman093 - Kit Watkins - The Gathering (DVD)
Earth Mantra has a real treat in store for its listeners with this release.
You may be familiar with Kit Watkin's two classic releases on Earth Mantra called "The Gathering Set 1" and "The Gathering Set 2". These we described as "classic" and "essential" albums for all music lovers, performed by an artist that we believe is one of the few all-time greats of the ambient genre (and several other genres too, we might add). If you're interested in those albums you can find them at the following two URLs:
http://earthmantra.com/thegatheringset1
http://earthmantra.com/thegatheringset2
Fans of Kit Watkins will know that a few years ago, Kit also released a full length video DVD of this performance, which presents nearly all of both sets Kit played at St. Mary's Church. It is now our distinct pleasure to be able to offer this DVD to all Earth Mantra listeners free, under Creative Commons.
It is such a joy to be able to watch Kit play this amazing music. It is difficult to truly appreciate the musicianship Kit brings to his music without seeing him make it in real time. The video recording quality is exquisite, a perfect rendering of this genre-changing performance. And of course, the music itself is stunning, one of the legendary ambient concerts of all time.
Earth Mantra could not be more excited to bring this fantastic DVD to our listeners, and we again want to publicly thank Kit for his generosity in making this material available in this way. We hope you enjoy and cherish it as much as we do.
As always, all Earth Mantra releases are available under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported license. For commercial use, please contact us.

Installation instructions:
Note that to play this DVD you must have a standard DVD player hooked up to a television set/home entertainment center, or the equivalent software for your PC.
Also note that the DVD has been encoded to the NTSC broadcast standard, so if you encounter problems playing back the DVD on PAL video equipment, you may need to enable NTSC compatibility mode in your player (if it supports it), or simply play the DVD on your computer instead.
If you want to play the DVD on your computer, please note there are too many different DVD playback software packages to list here, plus most new computers nowadays come with a software bundle that includes DVD playback. Therefore, we suggest you consult the owner's manual of your computer for more information, if you do not know if you have an appropriate DVD playback package, or search the net for free DVD playback options for your platform (there are many).
To create the DVD itself, please follow these simple instructions.
1. Insert a blank DVD into your computer's DVD burner and launch your favorite DVD burning software. If you do not have DVD burning software already, there are many free alternatives available on the net, such as:
Windows: ImgBurn http://www.imgburn.com
BwgBurn http://bwgburn.sourceforge.net/
Mac OSX: Disc Burner http://www.centromedia.com/en/products/discburner
Burn http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/
Linux: Brasero http://www.gnome.org/projects/brasero/
k3b http://k3b.plainblack.com/
There are other alternatives as well. Please note that Earth Mantra does not endorse or require any particular DVD burning software; feel free to use the one that best suits your needs.
2. Burn the included .iso file in its entirety to the DVD using the DVD burning software. Be sure to finalize the disc.
3. (optional) Print the artwork of your choice (DVD case format or jewel case format) using your favorite CD or DVD label printing software.
4. Pop the DVD into your entertainment center DVD player, or into your computer's DVD tray, and enjoy.
